Doghouse Roses

Call it what you will - nu-folk, alt-folk or even folkicana - the new Doghouse Roses single “Greener The Grass” (out 26th May) is a restless yet reassuring song featuring strings, cello, and “vocals reminiscent of such folk luminaries as Linda Thompson & Sandy Denny” (Americana UK) The track is taken from the forthcoming album “How’ve You Been (All This Time)?”.

Duo Paul Tasker & Iona Macdonald began recording with producer Malcolm Lindsay (Willard Grant Conspiracy, The Delgados) after being invited to contribute to the new Willard Grant Conspiracy album “Pilgrim Road”. Songs from “How’ve You Been (All This Time)” were well received by audiences when the duo decided to give them an airing live on tour with the Willard Grant Conspiracy in September 2007, which included shows at the End of the Road Festival in Dorset and the Take Root Festival in Groningen, NL.

The single features the talents of Scottish Operas principle cellist Robert Irvine, ex-Cappercaille percussionist Wilf Taylor and Josh Hillman, fiddle player for WGC, resulting in a sound that lies between the Pentangle and Fairport Convention, with a nod to Gillian Welch on the way.

Doghouse Roses will play a handful of shows at the end of May in support of the single release:

28th May: Glasgow Americana festival. The Twisted Wheel, Queen Street, Glasgow
29th May; The Green Note, Camden, London
1st June: Montrose Music Festival, Montrose, Scotland

The album “How’ve You Been (All This Time)?” will be released on the 1st of September followed by a return to Germany for a series of headline shows
